FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
WEEKLY NEWSLETTER – Friday 17th February 2012

| James will be continuing to undertake individual student sessions throughout February and will be talking about career progression and further opportunities in football after this programme has finished. James will be letting you know your appointment times with him next week. There are no Bolton Wanderers Fixtures this weekend. Students have a free weekend so enjoy the rest and make sure you take the opportunity to get plenty of sleep and relaxation. Some of the students took part in an away fixture against Leigh Genesis yesterday. The result went in our favour, three goals to one, with a great goal from Christian Cantero and two from Changhyeon Choi. James Ward: “A very pleasing day for players and staff. The hard work that goes on behind closed doors at the training ground is paying off. A great performance and result. We will look to build on this and get better and better’. Man of the Match went to Yohan Hakir. James says: “The Belgian born full back was outstanding from the first whistle to the last. His decision making on and off the ball and work rate were second to none”. Well done Yohan!! |

| REMINDER – If you are requesting weekend leave or curfew extensions, you must ask your parents/guardian to email Mick or Stuart with permission before you complete the Request Form. This saves a lot of time and ensures we have your parents’ approval before making any decision.Cafe Rijo – You will remember last week we shared with you the positive messages from the Rijo Cafe staff about how well behaved, respectful and courteous our students are this year. However, we understand many of you went into the cafe last Saturday to watch a football match that was being shown on the TV and became a little too excited at goals scored, missed chances etc etc!!!! Can we please ask that whenever you do meet up in the cafe that you are careful not to make too much noise – you need to remember that this is a public building, used by many other people and it is important you respect other building users who may not appreciate the noise levels at times.Host Families – Just a plea from Stuart that all students make sure you let your host families know your whereabouts and times you will be returning home. It is easy to get distracted when you are out and about, making plans and enjoying yourself, but you must make sure that you communicate regularly with your host families so that they know you are safe and what time you will be returning home.
We are now at the end of week six of the programme, with fourteen weeks left to go and the Madrid tournament to look forward to. Our new students seem to be settling in really well, which is great to see – you have all added enormously to the existing group of students and we hope you are enjoying your experience. Please let us all keep vigilant about the rules and expectations and not get too comfortable that you forget about these. We have a fantastic group of students here this year and we want this to be the most successful year yet – and from all angles, it is looking like this will be an amazing year for everyone, students and staff alike.
Have a great weekend everyone, take the opportunity to rest and relax and see you on Monday. Remember, if you need to speak to a member of staff in an emergency this weekend, contact the on-call number 01452 619021 – thanks!! |
