Who Are We?

Director’s Profile

 inlingua Manchester is owned and was founded by Peter Hayes. Peter is a law graduate from the University of Westminster and worked as the Manager of the Business Centre at inlingua Cheltenham for seven and a half years from May 1999 until he left in November 2006 to concentrate full time on inlingua Manchester. During this time he built up the reputation of this executive centre for the consistent delivery of a high standard of service and customer care to valued corporate clients from all over the world. Peter has been in the English language teaching industry since 1991, starting his English teaching career in Verona, Italy. He then went on to take the RSA University of Cambridge Diploma in EFL with the Bell School. In Summer 1996 Peter took his first management role being appointed as Director of Studies at Stafford House School of English in Canterbury. By 1998 Peter was co-running ASPECT Oxford, a large and modern English language school with up 350 students aged between 12 and 25 years. During his time in academic management he has successfully guided his schools and departments through 4 British Council inspections, an ISO 2001 external audit and an “Investor’s in People” human resource audit. The directors of inlingua Manchester bring a wealth of knowledge and experience from the world of professional football, finance and banking. We believe that together we make a great team.

Manager' Profile

Simon Carroll is the Manager at inlingua Manchester. Simon is a very experienced manager having learnt his trade working in the travel & tourism industry in northern France as well as with the Royal Mail after leaving university, where he studied Business and English Language. During his English teaching career Simon has worked in the Sudan for 2 years, India, The Maldives and Spain. His experience and training in customer care makes him ideally suited to the customer driven culture prevalent at inlingua Manchester. Simon is a keen Manchester United fan as well as loving the other national sport, cricket.

Teacher Profiles

Andrew Lewis is a law graduate from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and an experienced business English trainer from Manchester who has lived and worked in Japan, Australia and the UK. In his youth Andrew was an accomplished chess player who represented England for three years running. His other passions include playing 5 a side football as well as being a  Manchester United FC fan and season ticket holder.

Diane Garcia is an experienced teacher of English as a foreign language who has lived and worked in London, the USA, Australia and Mexico. She is a graduate in English literature and drama from King Alfred's College, University of Winchester, and a has a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Adult ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) from the University of Bolton. She also has a Diploma in Spanish from the University of Mexico (UNAM). During her career, Diane has worked as a producer and translator for a Mexican television production company. She also teaches ESOL in a local College of Further Education. In her free time she enjoys cycling, hiking and theatre.
